The Hunger Games Movie is like a Snickers.... It Satisfies....
I love the trilogy The Hunger Games. It is poignant and relevant to today's world in ways you don't even notice until you have thought about it for a few weeks. And to avoid spoilers, I won't go into my in depth thought on the whole series right now. I will, however, do what every blogger who is a fan is doing right now and say...Go See The Movie.
It was great! The casting was perfect. The effects stunning. And it follows the book about as closely as a movie can without making it about 6 hours long. The only changes we noticed were minor, and intended to move it along faster, like skipping past the "slow days" in the Games; days where they only sat in a tree or slept off their injuries. Also, the way she acquires the pin is different, but it deleted the time taking scenes with Madge, the Mayor's daughter. And Peeta doesn't lose his leg, which is the one I have mixed feelings about.
Woody Harrelson steals the show though. He portrayed Haymitch perfectly. Not as just a pathetic alcoholic who is trying to numb the pain of the Games past, but as a motivated man. A man who is plotting a rebellion...which he is. He was funny and serious and endearing. I thought he was the best cast character...and the best movie adapted character. Collins developed his as a fantastic character to begin with, but in the movie we get to SEE his motivations, see what he is doing in the background, where as in the book it is written in Katniss point of view and we don't get those details.
Jennifer Lawrence brings a warmth to Katniss that I didn't always feel in the books. I knew it was there, that she must be feeling that way, she must be shaking on the inside...or the outside. But it was wonderful to SEE it. She made her strong and vulnerable at the same time. She breathed life into her. It was stunning.
I know Suzanne Collins was involved in the entire movie process and it was very clear when watching the movie. Her touches were everywhere. The details were superbly woven into the movie, so that anyone who has read the book can say....OH I REMEMBER THAT!
I will see it again....and probably again after that. It was well worth a midnight viewing...not that I would have been in bed anyway...I just hope my daughter can stay awake at class today. ;-)
May the odds be ever in your favor....

New Format....
Somehow, I have managed to delete all the pictures in my blog. So, I apologize, but honestly, I am not about to go back through the remaining 25 posts and put pix back into them. Sorry, Charlie, I don't have that kind of time...
Now you probably noticed that I said "remaining 25 Posts" as in that is not all of the posts on my blog. Well, good eye! Early in the year I decided that my blog had morphed into a writing blog. At that time I removed all the posts that did not pertain to writing or were perhaps inappropriate to the genre. Today, I have removed more of the previous posts, some because they were centered around a picture that....obviously....you can't see anymore. Some I just thought weren't what I was after.
You may also have noticed that I have not posted in something like 6 or more months. That is due to my lack of commitment to what I want to blog about. I am going to continue with this blog, but I intend on making it entirely about my writing experience. I may post everyday...but more than likely I will post whenever I have something I want to babble on about. Which may or may not be a frequent occurrence
I want to give my sincere thanks to those who have stuck by me for the last 2 years, even when I wasn't posting anything at all. I realize that not all of the followers I have gathered in the last 2 years are not writers, or even interested in the ramblings of a writer. I completely understand if I lose some followers. But I want to invite everyone to stick around.
You never know what might come out of my....um....mouth....
